Project Description
The Digital Library Benelux (Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Benelux) is supposed to become an interdisciplinary web portal for the fields of Benelux research, Dutch, Frisian and Afrikaans philology. The aim of this project is both to offer scientists and students a One-Stop Shop for their online research and to promote professional exchange.
More specifically the objectives are:
- To integrate scientifically relevant online bibliographies, databases, electronic journals and library catalogues into the portal
- To develop new information services, such as an open access repository, a research guide and a weblog for scientific communication
- To attract cooperation partners on a national and international scale.
The Digital Library Benelux is a non-profit project and organised by the university libraries of Münster and Cologne. It is a project within the Scientific Library Services and Information Systems-programme funded by Germany's largest research funding organisation DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft).
