Impact and Outcome of Libraries

Introduction

Library controlling until now means first of all measuring input, output and performance by statistical means and so called hard facts. The new, perhaps more important and definitly more difficult challenge is to measure impact and outcome, value and benefit of libraries for users. The ULB Münster picks up this topic, already broadly discussed in anglo-american countries, and presents on this site first documents, a bibliography and linklist.

Bibliothekscontrolling bedeutet bislang vor allem die Messung von Input und Output sowie Leistung von Bibliotheken anhand statistisch zu erhebender Daten und Fakten aus dem Bibliotheksbetrieb. Die neue, vielleicht wichtigere und jedenfalls schwierigere Herausforderung lautet, die tatsächliche Wirkung, Bedeutung und den Nutzen von Bibliotheken für ihre Kunden zu messen. Die ULB Münster nimmt dieses Thema, das im angloamerikanischen Raum bereits vielfach diskutiert wird, auf und stellt auf dieser Seite erste Dokumente, Literaturhinweise und Links zusammen.
