The University and State Library of Münster has one of the largest newspaper collections in Germany.
At the beginning of 2003, the two most substantial newspaper collections at the university were merged: the press archive of the Department of Communication (IfK) and the newspaper archive of the ULB. The resulting Newspaper Archive (ZuP) with a reading room and various devices for making (digitised) copies was housed in Bispinghof 24/25 (building of the Alte Universitätsbibliothek – former library building) and could be used on site until it was dissolved in this form in mid-2024.

Electronic Newspapers

For students and staff of the University of Münster, a selection of full text newspapers is available online in the university network.
E-paper editions of more than 130 newspapers produced in Westphalia from 2013 (WN 1946) to last week can be used on certain computers at the ULB.
The zeit.punktNRW portal provides free access to historical newspapers from the region of NRW.
